Jim Messina and His Jesters

1964

There were three incarnations of the band Jim Messina formed prior to graduating high school. The first was a band called The Boutonnieres, which he started the summer of 1962 before he entered High School. The band members were Jim Messina (lead guitar), Dave Archuleta (sax), Gary Walker (piano), Larry Walker (drums) and later, Alan Ubrum (electric guitar).

The second generation evolved in his freshman year and was called The Pendletons. The band members were Jim Messina (lead guitar), Louis Lopez (sax), Jim Lewis (drums), and Ron House (bass).

The band, The Jesters, evolved over the next three years during his high school day and its final incarnation consisted of Jim Messina (lead guitar), Ron House (rhythm guitar), Bill Beckman (rhythm guitar), Jim Sholstedt (bass), Larry Cundieff (drums), and Dave Archuleta (sax).
